backstory
carol was born to two parents who didn’t really pay much attention to her. her father was much more focused on her brothers, leaving carol as the odd one out, not to mention he was an alcoholic. as the black sheep, she never really got along with her family and found herself on the outside a lot. when her mother died, it only got worse.ever since she was a kid, she’d always wanted to fly. she had taken it upon herself to focus her studying to try and get into the air force and be one of the first women to fly a combat ship. she ended up enrolling in the army when she was 18, despite everyone who told her she couldn’t do it. she always had a determination to try and prove them wrong. she did that, rising high in the ranks and soon going to work for a super secret project called project pegasus.
it was here that she was exposed to the tesseract, the item that the USAF was using to try and harness energy and power under the person named mar-vell, who had previously been a kree agent. the kree had discovered that the humans were in possession of it and sent soldiers to attack, so carol attempted to blow it up to save the lives of the people she loved. she ended up absorbing the power of the tesseract (the space stone, actually) and the kree took her in.after erasing her memories and enlisting her as a soldier they were surprised to find their efforts failed when their search for the tesseract again led them back to earth and her memories came back. turning on the kree for kidnapping and abusing her, she fought them off and advised them that the earth was now hers to defend and they were not welcome here.after that, now in full control of her powers and no longer a kree operative, she decided to use her powers for good and went off to the stars to be a one-woman army for those who needed it. she returned to earth when she was called to fight against thanos and then returned to the sky to continue her work.
a study in, self-sacrifice, survivor's guilt, family dynamics, recovery, overcoming trauma, self-sufficiency, autonomy, learning to love again.
headcanons & divergences
carol is based off the MCU, primarily her solo movie and a little bit of endgame. she has no comic influence and is mostly based off headcanons as well.✰ she and maria were in a committed relationship close to marriage before they broke up when carol left earth because she lost her memory. as a result, carol considers monica to be her daughter and she will refer to her as such. however she doesn't know how she feels about monica now.she came back to earth several times to visit, especially during graduations. she works with monica now as she works with SWORD. follows the canon of the marvels as usual, except she didn't just visit maria. she did visit monica on earth a few times but mostly from a distanct.✰ being hit with the power stone knocks her out for a bit but it also overpowers her. by the time she wakes up and is overpowered, tony had already snapped and she was useless. she carries the guilt of not being able to do more.✰ during the events of endgame, carol carried a lot of guilt about not stopping thanos earlier, and even more guilt because she had to deal with the fact that now her family was gone, as monica disappeared from the snap. even after everyone’s back, she still feels the guilt on her shoulders and will often snap if you mention thanos around her, as she can’t quite control herself.✰ she doesn’t have much control of her emotions and although that makes her a good fighter it also makes her a bit of a nut. But in a good way, she hopes.more will be added soon post the marvels.currently this is where i roleplay her.

carol danvers lives in maria's old house in louisiana, with her ship parked just outside, taking a brief retirement from being a cosmic space hero so she can be there for earth.on occasion, she does go up into space to help someone when she's called, or just to visit. she also does fly around often. however, she is currently grounded with goose.plotlines can take place at any point between captain marvel and the marvels, following reluctant canon except for my own divergences.

after the events of endgame, carol danvers decided to retire to maria's home in louisiana, retiring as a cosmic space hero until something major happens, with goose.before that, though, she was called in by fury after the events of civil war. she was there during the rest of the movies moving forward, and stuck around on earth to help.plotlines can take place at any point between captain marvel and endgame, can follow canon except for my own divergences.

i have a few versions of modern verses for carol and can always create more.the default one is usually that she is in the military, air force; it takes place in the 90s or modern day, sort of following the events of the first captain marvel movie without the kree/alien subplot.i also have a few modern verses where she has various jobs, such as: librarian, english teacher, spy, biker.i am usually happy to plot any kind of modern verse. in every one she still has goose, no matter how implausible it might be.also in every modern voice she has kind of connection with maria, and considers monica like a daughter to her, so that aspect is never erased.most of her trauma comes from her parents rather than the whole Space Superhero thing, so that's always an interesting thing to explore in modern verses.

born a nomad, c'arol never really found somewhere that she belonged. she was "raised" by a hardy band of thieves who eventually dumped her into a village (name depends on whether or not it's normal d&d or exandria, but typically it's mooren). there, she was raised into childhood by the fishermen of the village, who appreciated her celestial abilities (and wings) as they grew.seeking a greater purpose, she sought to dedicate herself to a worthy cause. she took the oath of the open sea, dedicating herself to exploring the oceans and protecting nature, worshipping the stormload, believing that peaceful seas can't exist without storm, so to speak.eventually, she left the village after a bad boating accident that cost her everyone she cared for. at odds with her faith, with no longer a purpose, she finds herself wandering the country, trying to recognize who she is again. she is still young in the age of the assimar, so she has a lot to learn, and a lot of the world to see.
